Introduction to Citizen Science: Explorations in Educational Settings

This professional development course will provide you with an overview of citizen science (past, present, and future), highlighting several existing citizen science programs that are targeted towards educators. The featured programs are
- FrogWatch USA
- Project BudBurst
You will explore each of these programs, including how to participate, suggestions for structuring your institution's involvement, educational activities to engage your learners/participants in making observations, as well as forming a community with other educators. You will select two of the five projects to explore in depth, including actual participation, if possible.
This is a self-directed course with suggested Unit deadlines. You will be completing this course in 30 days with a cohort of other educators. Each Unit includes a combination of readings, videos, discussions, activities, and self-assessments.
Course Registration Fee: $35
